cyborgs vs shadows
« on: March 25, 2011, 12:56:05 pm »
A towering black behemoth with devilish features slowly approaches a podium, in front which thousands of dark armor clad soldiers, wielding assault rifles in their hands and having brutally looking sword on their backs. The decorations of the corridor, through which the behemoth is proceeding is of dark textures with occasional red additions. As the behemoth is reaching the end of the corridor, he sees a soldier in a wolf-like helmet giving him a nod of approval and stands out of the way.
Being blinded by the sudden light of projectors, the behemoth continues marching towards the podium, with the soldiers cheering for him. As the anxiety fades away, the behemoth begins speaking in a menacing low pitched voice.

My people...the mysterious and mighty nation of the shadow people. Many other races despise us for our fiendish appearance, for our dark and secret ways, for looking so immoral. They believe we are a force of true evil. But they have yet to see the true enemy of all races. This enemy is nothing like anyone has ever faced before. They are immoral, they are soulless, they show no mercy, for they do not know the meaning of the word. The enemy slaughters innocent people then revives them with horrific results, using them as slaves or cannon fodder. Already we have faced them many times, we have witnessed their devastating weaponry, their hardness. Not even we can recall a time in our history, when we faced an opponent more terrifying than this specific one.
But the courage of our warriors did not fade, despite all odds. When we were horrifically outnumbered during the siege of our homeworld, we did not surrender, we did not fret. We defeated this enemy, even though the gods have placed bets against us. When they would swarm in large numbers, we would strike from the shadows with small numbers, taking out a large portion of them with minimum casualties. When their fighter drones plagued the space like a locust horde, our heroic fighters and gunships were able to withstand wave after wave, only to emerge victorious. Nothing could stop our templars, not even assimilated shadow warriors. Nothing could ever break the will of a true shadow warrior. We have shown the other nations, that this cybernetic menace can be defeated, it can be stopped. Already other systems are rallying their forces to attack the main enemy citadel on planet B32-87. Now we posses the advantage in numbers. Now we have the technological marvel of all races combines. Now we are on the offensive.
On this day we begin the greatest military campaign in history. On this day we liberate every other system that is occupied by these soulless freaks. On this day we shall have our vengeance for the warriors and civilians, that have fallen. On this day we prove to the entire universe and even to the gods, that a warrior with a soul is superior to a lifeless machine. MY PEOPLE, NOW IS OUR TIME!!!

The army shouts in applause, raising their rifles and swords in the air. Their morale is high, they have grown used to the enemy. They are ready to fight.

The entire shadow fleet is gathering over the planet, a fleet of 20 capital ships, 50 heavy ships, 75 light cruisers, hundreds of light gunships and thousands of fighters. With new advanced technology, the shadow army is ready to face the cybernetic army and finish it off once and for all.

If only their opponent wasn't so cunning...

Modemkill sat on a throne of metal, surrounded by walls of metal, lined with monitors, there was no aesthetic touch, wires hung from the walls, bare, pipes could be seen.

*Click*

Modem had been watching the Shadow Behemoth's little speech, he had spy bots everywhere, undetectable to the naked eye.

"Pitiful creatures..."

His voice was deep....dark...it sounded dry, but with an electronic tinge to it, Modemkill, Overlord of the CCM, which was the name the other races had given them, Cyborg Corpse Machines, It was fitting he supposed, Modem's entire body was crafted from technology, if there was any biological parts left, they could not be seen from the outside.

"They think that by banding together, they can stop me, they will all be assimilated, it is inevitable."

Modem tapped a few buttons on the arm of his chair with his cold, metallic hands, the image on the large screen switched to an overview of the forces he currently had in space, there were many ships, massive, hulking, monstrous titans, there were hundreds, they went on as far as the eye could see.

"Yes, foolish beast, bring them, bring them all, all of the races of this system will fall, just like the countless systems before, nothing can stop our expansion."

He smiled, a twisted, evil smile, his cold, black eyes narrowed.

"Besides....as you have proven to me...Numbers are not everything, I have a little....surprise for you...."

He started to laugh, quietly at first, but then turning into a long, maniacal laugh, full of malice and evil.

A shadow creature, clad in dark priest clothes, approaches the behemoth.

- Sir, my templars have sensed presence of the cyborgs on this planet. Small...so small, you can't see them.
- Spy bots. I've grown tired of this. So the bastard knows we are coming. Good. Let him prepare as much as he wants, it won't save him. Grand templar, I want you to remove all the spy bots. By any means.
- Yes, your excellency.

Being left alone, the behemoth looks into the sky
I know you have surprises. But I'm ready for anything you throw.

*some hours later*
On board the capital ship "Shadow of Intent".

The same soldier with a wolf helmet approaches the behemoth in the captains deck.

- Sir, the other generals are ready for the meeting.
- Good. Commence holotransmission.
A reptile looking being speaks
- Shadow creature. While I do not like having to work with your kind, I fear alone my people will not defeat this menace....We have all discussed the plan multiple times. Last recap: your army and the humans strike from the other side of the planet, dividing their forces into two. While We take the blunt of the attack on ourselves, you and the humans land and take that freak down once and for all.
- Be ready for surprises. Our foe tends to be...unpredictable.
- Nothing my men can't handle.

The new alliance consists of multiple races, each with their own unique way of waging war.
The Shadow people are masters of surgical strikes and subterfuge.
The humans are adept with biological weaponry along with soldiers augmented by nanomachines, having advanced medical technology.
There are many other nations, but we will focus on the humans and shadows waging war on their side.

With newly advanced technology, ranging from assault rifles that can quickly switch between balistic, gauss and emp round, to technological marvels, like nanonets that destroy anything inside them and force field protection. Each soldier of the alliance is armed with a shield around them.
The addition of new weapons can go on for a long way. Best keep the readers surprised.

With a total of 75 capital ships, 120 heavy ships, 200 cruisers (medium and light) and more then thousands of gunships and fighters, the shadow and human fleets sets course for the enemy stronghold.

Grand Templar of the Shadows

Infantry commander

Elite soldiers

Basic shadow troopers

Reaper monk

Human soldier in heavy nanoarmor (don't complain, I'd gladly draw the whole thing myself, if I was any good at it :P )

Elite Human nanowarrior (again, if I could draw, I'd make the whole thing myself. I do have a good imagination :P )

Standart marine

Heavy human tank

Light shadow tank

And many more.

(Yes, Modem, I want you to find some pics for your army, so that my wild imagination could be satisfied by having pictures  :) Look up the Crysis 2 aliens. They look awesome and would suit your army. Just saying )

((I cant find any pics I like right now, I'll take a better look for some later. >.>))

The sound of countless marching feet was deafening, Modem stood tall on the roof of his cybernetic citadel overlooking vast tracts of wasteland, as far as the eye could see his army swarmed, covering the land, they were mobilizing, marching in step, the sound could be heard for many miles, the massive hulking capitol ships lay on the ground, their bay doors open, receiving the endless host of half living soldiers.

Suddenly the voice of the main computer reached Modem's ears, a soft female voice.

"Long range sensors detect a massive fleet entering the system, estimated time of arrival, five hours, twenty seven minutes, nineteen seconds."

Modem let a small grin crack on his synthetic face.

"Very well, launch the ships, prepare the orbital defenses, bring the ion cannons online."

A new development of Modem's, the Ion cannon, a stationary ground defense, capable of firing directly into orbit, it was designed to devastate all incoming dropships, when the Shadow Demon and his new allies tried to land on his planet, they would find their forces devastated before the fighting even began.

"Stupid beast, even if it takes me eons, I will bring this galaxy under my rule, your pathetic resistance will crumble, like the hundreds before you, so little you know of things outside your little corner of space, this time.....this time, I will see you die.."

The battle had began. The enormously large united races fleet was attacking Modem on one side of the planet, outnumbering his forces 2:1, while also having technological versatility, as most of Modem's forces are only effective, when possessing overwhelming numbers. This is due to Modem having to split his forces to deal with the Human and Shadow fleets on the other side.

When the Humans and Shadows had entered the system, they were greeted by laser fire, which was easily blocked by their shielding technology, followed by their own fire. With only his best ships having shielding, most of the guarding fleet was decimated, leaving only his elites to guard the other side. It would seem like an easy assault, if only there hadn't been a new surprise.

From the planet surface a large glowing circle appeared, which sent out a beam of energy through one of the human ships, destroying it in an instance.

- They have planetary artillery? - shouted one of the human generals.
- This is a surprise...but must take long to recharge. Continue assaulting - spoke out the behemoth.

The behemoths predictions were true: took 10 minutes for a recharge to destroy a shadow heavy cruiser.
 - Keep pressing forward. We will bomb the thing, once we have reached the planet.

The united fleet continued pressing Modem from all sides.

Modem sat in his citadel, calmly watching as his fleet was slowly decimated by the combined forces of the many races of this quadrant of space.

"Yes...a little closer...that's it..."

As the enemy advanced, Modem tapped his metallic fingers impatiently off the side of his chair.

"Now..."

It was time, James brought a screen online, the picture showed a strange alien, a kind of insect creature, but with human proportions.

"The time has come high chancellor, to prove your worth."

Modem spoke with an arrogant grin, there were the Ilath, a species from a quadrant of space far, far away that Modem and the CCM had long ago conquered, these people were subjugated to his will, for he held their queen in captivity, they hated Modem, despised him, but they served him, for fear of their queen, who'm they depended on for their survival as a race.

"Your will shall be done..." The hatred seethed in the creatures voice, then the screen went black once more.

In space, above the planet, the battle raged on, but suddenly, all around the planet, eight very large machines appeared, which had obviously been cloaked beforehand, another of Modem's stolen and reverse engineered technologies, eight huge space stations, spaced evenly around the planet, they came online with an eerie green glow, and suddenly, a large, powerful shield was raised around the entire planet.

Meanwhile, behind the enemy, ships began dropping out of hyperspace, they looked like they were popping into existence, with a bright white light, the Ilath had arrived, and were opening fire on the Human and Shadow fleets from behind, their ships were massive, well armed and armored, they were practically floating fortresses, with weapons technology far superior to anything else on the battlefield.

Modem smiled as he watched this happen. Now the Humans and Shadow creatures were trapped between a powerful shield, and an enemy at their back, not to mention his own forces, that were still engaged in the fighting up there.

He had no doubt that they would eventually break through the shield, it was strong, but not invincible, but not before taking a great deal of damage and loss.

"Your move..." Modem said with a smile.

Viewing two screens, one with the newly formed stations, the other with the enemies, that have reared them, the behemoth growls viciously in frustration, then turns to his lieutenant and asks
- How much until the next ion cannon strike?
- 3 minutes, my lord.
- Forward shields full power. Have most of the fleet deal with the menace behind us, while I deal with the cannon
- yes, my lord.

The behemoth summons templars to his side and they begin chanting some sort of song in a twisted and warped language. A dark void begins forming in front of the Shadow of Intent, which absorbs all the fire from the space station, that is concentrating it's fire on the united fleet.
As the chant grows louder, so does the void, eventually growing to be a small black hole.

Once the ion cannon fires, the behemoth uses the newly formed black hole to transfer the fire upon the closest space station.
The cannon did tremendous damage to the station. It's now off-line and slowly falling towards the planet surface, right onto the ion cannon. At this estimate, it shall reach the cannon in a couple of minutes.
 The cannon is lost.

((Dude, the space stations aren't weapon platforms, they're generating a shield around the planet, and are behind the shield, it was a tactic designed to trap you between the shield and the new enemy. >.>

I'll roll with it though I guess. :P ))

"Hmm...lucky shadow beast...lucky, but the shield does not need all three stations to stay strong, you are still trapped against a wall with an enemy at your back and an enemy at your front."

The Ilith battle cruisers zoomed past, raining fire down upon the united fleet, their photon cannons caused massive damage every time they fired.

The CCM Fleet, having been freed up since the United fleet turned to face their new foe, once again went on the offensive, the remnants of the first wave of ships turned and attacked, and more ships began to appear from the planet below, passing through the shield, which was only designed to keep things out.

The Ion cannon was lost, but it had done it's job admirably, and CCM Drones were already clearing away the wreckage below, salvaging what was left of the space station and the cannon, they swarmed over it like ants.

"However...I can't let that damn behemoth continue to use that vortex ability unchecked..."

Modem keyed in a few orders, and set things into motion. Back up in space, a large CCM capitol ship loomed over the Shadow of Intent, it had only just uncloaked itself, and it was too late for the Shadows to take up evasive maneuvers, the ship moved in swiftly, and automated clamps attached themselves to the side of the other ship, the Shadow of Intent was being boarded.

Regular CCM Troops were the first wave that would be upon the enemy, several of the airlocks on the Shadow of Intent were already in the process of being welded open, the CCM Troops waited on the other side.

((CCM Infantry: ))

The behemoth watches in annoyance, as he view the surveilance systems showing CCM troops boarding the capitol ship. Without a moment to spare, he orders his elites to deal with the boarders. Shadow Troops were prepared in case of a boarding action, so positions all over the ship were heavily fortified: turrets and dug in troops, armed with EMP and Pulse rounds, would tear down most of the ungoing enemy, and with such tight corridors, cloaking fields and fast attack cyborgs would be of little use. It's a shame that there is a limit to ammunition...

The behemoth view the cybernetic planet and growls to himself:
"We need to get past that shield or we will get slaughtered here....."
He watches at the second station and opens up a voice uplink with his officers:

- Wolf! We need to get rid of the shiled. I'll fire an EMP at one of the stations, prepare to hit it with everything you got. Everyone else provide covering fire. The Shadow of Intent has been boarded, and until that is dealt with, we cannot hope to win this.

- Yes, my lord. Commencing bombing route.

The behemoth turns to one of his dark templars and orders him to raise a spiritual shiled around Wolf and his ships, so to give them extra endurance.

This manouver will cost them greatly, but there is no other option: they need to get to the surface as quickly as possible

Wave upon wave of mindless, heavily armored CCM drones pour out of the breeches in the Shadow of Intent, an almost endless stream of Modem's swarming monstrosities from the bowls of the CCM Capitol ship, where they had been stored in small cryogenic pods, were now awakening to perform their gruesome task.

The enemy defense was strong, and soon the tight corridors were lined with piles of dead CCM drones, but the others kept marching forth directly into the maw of death, and they slowly gained ground, taking down enemies here and there as they went, overrunning several positions, using the piles of corpses in the hallway as cover as they advanced.

Meanwhile, the Ilath continued their relentless assault on the front lines of the Alliance forces, weapons fired freely, and they had the advantage, as they could maneuver freely, while the Alliance ships, trapped against the shield as they were, could not.

Meanwhile, on the stations, thousands of hanger bay doors began to open, and out of them, small attack drones, the size of a small shuttle, began pouring out, there were the stations short range defenses, the drones zipped around at high speeds, and began assaulting Wolf and his ships with small arms fire, they were weak and lightly armored, but they made up for it with their swarming tactics, they were fully automated.

"Finally...I'll be rid of you, no longer shall you be a thorn in my side beast."

The Behemoth viewed the radio reports, that the CCM drones are slowly taking over the ship. Without a moment to waste, he sends out the Grand Templar to deal with the boarders. His time phasing abilities and necromancy skills will help deal with the boarders.

The Behemoth had anticipated some form of attack on Wolf and his squadron, so he had the spirit shields raised beforehand. The dark energy pulsing arond Wolf and his fighters shielded them from the attack of the tiny drones. They had changed weaponry to fire powerful pulses of energy to take out large masses of those insects, forming what resembled the old horcupine formation of Ancient Greeks: the squadron moved at same speed, each holding his own sector from the insects, and in unison pushing through the bugs towards the station.
When the EMP hits, most bugs will be destroyed and, given the Shadow fighter's own defences against EMP blasts, will leave the station defencless.

In the meanwhile, the Grand Templar had entered a chamber, which has been taken over by the CCM. As soon as they notice him, they fire a hail of bullets. The Grand Master raises his hand, creating a dark shield around himself, which absorbs all the bullets. With a subtle motion, he pushes the shield forward, making all the bullets shoot back at the CCM troops.

Making his way to the drop pod, he freezes the drop pod in time, halting the CCM advance on this sector. To prevent other drop pods from attaching to this area, he keeps the pod out of time. It cannot be damaged while not in this world, but it can still be touched. No more pods in this direction.

He slowly moves to the other troubling sectors.

Modem monitored the progress of the invasion on the enemy command ship, the Shadow of Intent, several error screens currently showed up on the wall monitor, it seems the drop pods were no longer functioning, and the cause was unknown.

"Hmmph..."

Modem frowned, he keyed in several commands.

The CCM Capitol ship hovering just 50 metres above the hull of the Shadow of Intent suddenly opened the lower hanger bay doors, all of them, and from there, CCM troops, impervious to the vacuum of space, began to drop, falling slowly, and landing on the hull of the Shadow of Intent, they swarmed on the outside, moving to designated locations, some began to plant small, flat devices in places, and after stepping back, the devices seemed to melt, they turned to plasma, which then began to chew it's way through the hull of the Shadow of Intent, not long after, the hull had been breached in several places, and the holes were large enough for the CCM drones to drop through, which is exactly what they did, the attack continued.

Turning his attention to the squadron sent to attack one of the remaining shield stations, Modem changed his frown to a grin, this squadron had caused him trouble in the past, they were part of the Shadow forces elite.

"The station has served it's purpose admirably..."

Modem tapped several buttons on the keypad built into his command chair without even looking at it, the Station which Wolf and his troops were attacking suddenly came to life, it began pulsating green, and after a few moments, the Station stopped powering the shield around the planet, and raised a new shield, which encompassed the station, Wolf and his forces, and the battle drones.

"That takes care of you..."

The Station was powered with a ZPM (Zero Point Module), an extremely potent, but also unstable power source, if the station were destroyed, or the Reactor were disabled, the Zero Point energy that had been tapped would have nowhere to go, and the resulting explosion would be rather large.

Normally, the explosion would be easy to outrun in a ship of any size, but now that the shield had been raised, escaping the explosion would be impossible, even if the station were destroyed, the shield would remain for at least three minutes before it collapsed, due to the excess energy already contained within it, and by then, anything inside the shield would be vaporized.

Wolf and his forces were effectively cut off from the rest of the battle, their only option, apart from blowing themselves up, was to stay put and fend off constant drone attacks launched from the station.

Meanwhile, the Ilath forces were making good on their allegiance to Modem, cutting a swath of death through the Alliance forces from the front, while taking moderate losses of their own, the speed and power of their craft could match anything in the Allied Armada, Modem watched with satisfaction as several Ilath Cruisers finished off a Human Battleship, the hulking metal ship buckled, then exploded.

Back in the Shadow of Intent, Three figures uncloaked behind the Grand Templar as he entered one of the larger rooms, they moved silently and swiftly, each was identical to the next, they were the CCM's newest weapon, the Advanced Assasination Cyborg, specially designed to eliminate enemy leaders, powerful, fast, semi-intelligent, and extremely durable, they were extremely expensive to produce resource-wise, so they were never put into mass production.

Each one stared coldly at the Grand Templar for a moment, then, in unison, their blades came forward, pointed at their enemy, and around them, a green aura appeared, a powerful personal shield, after another split second, they jumped into action, all attacked from different directions, one from the Templar's left, one from his right, and the last from directly head on.

The Grand Templar watched at his assailants without any sign of emotion. With a click of fingers, he sent one into a different dimension, just like he did with the drop pods, then shifted away from the dangers coming from the two other sides. He opened a dark void portal inside the corridor, which sucked the other two into their oblivion. The remaining cybord could be used for studying. With some more twists of the fingers, the Grand Templar made him harmless, deactivating his core, then shifting him into the stasis chambers, where he could be of no harm.

The Shadow of Intent was begining to get swarmed at every inch. It was obvious, that the infestation was too big to hold. The ship was lost...

Gathering all templars and remaining survivors, the Behemoth and the Grand Templar had decided on one final act for the ship: it will ram the station.

After teleporting all survivors to the closest warship, the Shadow of Intent was guided with rituals towards the station, with rage demons pushing it in the back, forcing the thing to go faster.

With it's incredibly high armor, it will have no problems reaching the station, setting off it's payload of EMP and Nuclear bombs.

Wolf had already weakened the station's shields. It's lost. The shield will soon be destroyed.
