Important Clan Organisation Changes
« on: January 05, 2010, 03:34:03 am »
Official Rules Coming Soon

The Fenrirs/Draconis had over 3 months to make any amendments to this Topic. Now the rest of the clan has their chance to state their opinions before it’s too late.

★ Any Agent that doesn’t meet the requirement for the new system will be allowed to keep their position for 3 months until they’re qualified or else is demoted to a more accurate position.
★ Any Agent that vouched for any new members into Dusk must become their "Shadow". A Shadow is responsible for their recommended candidate, to guide and watch over their mark until death.

****, now I have to actually PLAY Dead Frontier... Oh well, that just means I'll have less time on my other games.

I don't like how you have to be Reaper before Fenrir. Saying "Engine is the production/PVE rank, and Reaper is the PVP rank" then having them be linear system rather than a branched one is kinda saying PVP is more important than production, and PVE people have to go through PVP if they want to become a Fenrir.

For example, one of the Reaper requirements is to have good PVP stats, and one of the Fenrir requirements is to be a Reaper once, is pretty much keeping people with PVE biulds out of Fenrir.

I had more critiques but I forgot them. =/

I agree with meldon, it should be a more non-linear path. It should branch out after settler. Also.

Requirements:
★ Complete trials set by a Fenrir
★ Must fight for these positions every 3 months by defeating a Fenrir/Draconis
★ Have a +lvl 50 character that can not get auto deleted by DF,  good PVP stats and gear
Duties:
★ Be active and ready for war
★ Cause fear by PvPing a lot
Cause chaos by ruining OA, market price and infiltrating other clans with alts

What does this final section denote?
And crap, I'd better get to Lv. 50 quickly. Anyone got any 7.5s?

Rather than the Class system proposed here, I propose a Caste system that branches out after settler. Engine (Production/PVE), Reaper (PVP), Gatherer* (Looter/PVE), possibly more would all have the same rank level, security clearance, etc. Then it would go to one path again (Fenrir then Draconis), with two or three Fenrirs as the head of each class (including Crazy and future partner as head of Settlers).

the reasoning behind the PvE first then PvP is this

A PvE build is first required to achieve a PvP build

Its how I started, and unless you have people literally giving you supplies and money everyday since day 1, its how you must do it too

Not going to say a lvl 20 can't be an effective PvP build, because it can

but generally higher levels are the top Pvpers(not point wise, but power wise(i could slaughter a lvl 20 with a gau but he could easily gain more points than myself))

production is a step that a good pvper needs because he/she needs to build up that base and money before being able to pvp freely

not saying you can't loot with a pvp build and not saying you can't pvp with a pve build (i looted 200k in 3 days w/o a gm a few days ago before i left ;_;, and was killing peps with my pve build a long time ago) but production is the essential building block step before pvp

Fenrir need to be PvPers first because of the idea behind their role in Dusk

The Fenrir are considered the senior non commissioned officers of the clan and therefore must have the ability to literally rip apart subordinates(with the acceptation of some fenrir who were grandfathered in, which btw it may be time to start looking at who is performing their role in this regard)

And now for the wall of text version  :D

The saying of quality over quantity still remains, but so does strength in numbers.
There was some consideration in making Engine=Reaper with the same privileges, but the propose system is to support a large number of members and to adapt to AdminPwn’s ideas. Our previous systems allowed people to become idle in any rank and not live up to the evolutionary standards set by the Black Dragon clan.

This new system should meet and exceed the highlighted challenges quoted from AdminPwn.

Time to squash some myths:

  • There will not be cartoony graphics.
  • The price of GMs will stay the same.
  • You can still play for free if you choose.
  • Gameplay will be almost identical to how it is now (top down, mouse for aiming, keyboard for movement)
  • Loading may take slightly longer than it does now, but you'll only have to do it once. (where as now most people have to re-load every couple of days)
  • Whilst you will run into other people there will not be 200 people in one location. There will be auto-instancing which will ensure no more than 20 people can be in a single locationand the locations will be much larger than they are now. There will be a party system to ensure you'll be in the same instance as your friends if you want to be.
  • For 99% of people the game will run *much* faster than it does now.
  • The game balance/difficulty will remain roughly the same with some exceptions. The plan is to have a much harder high level 'end game' and also to make it much easier for very low levels.
  • You cannot be PvP'ed without consenting.
  • Whoever makes the most noise will attract the worst aggro.
  • Since a lot of people have requested single player I've decided that it will remain an option. However there will be some locations that will be very hard to survive in without a group.

I also suspect that there will eventfully be some sort of Zones where avoiding PVP isn’t an option, but that just my assumption made from other successive games.

And more info about the need of groups.

Multiplayer will be in near perfect sync and much faster overall. You'll be able to fight bosses together.

The game will become more of an MMORPG. We'll be doing away with the  existing multiplayer lobby system. Instead you'll be able to randomly meet people in the game world just as you would in any other MMORPGs such World of Warcraft or Runescape.

....

There will be whole new set of monsters with a wide range of special attacks. This new cast ofcreatures will create a new need for strategic planning and teamwork in battles. There will be 4 bosses and 7 special creatures on top of about 30 different variations of zombie. Here are some early concept sketches for the new creatures:

....

Since I'll be tied up with the development of the new client Zenmaster will be taking over development of the Outpost section of the game and will be primarily working on a Clan system over the next couple of months.

I hope that we can double our numbers so we can always have at least 20 members online at anytime to help each other, working as a clan with active and commited members. @|

About Fenrirs…

Having 8 Fenrirs doesn’t mean that all positions have to filled, even now, some of Fenrirs are not contributing enough to deserve their status. In the end, the Draconis will be making sure that only the best can be nominated as every few months, they can become a Draconis.   :o

A Fenrir is someone we want that has done everything in DF, actively playing the game, lurking on forums and can give guidance for every rank. The system allows anyone to become a Fenrir/ Draconis, by meeting perquisites for each rank and getting nominated, they earned it through time and experience so it insures that our clan will remain active and strong.  Once a player had achieve everything, we wanted potential leaders that can become Fenrirs that had experience some end game content by obtaining dusk items through top survivor/pvper also qualifies as a optional requirement for the Fenrir rank. If Dusk items are too difficult then simply beating a Draconis/Fenrir in combat when you’re a Reaper will also count.

In short, Fenrirs will have a shared responsibility of a sub leader that can monitor the clan 24/7 without specifically in charge of each rank.

Our clan would always allow members to socialize and take things easy as a Settler or Engine for PVE and Forum dwellers, more importantly, our clan will always demand respect or fear one way or other.

You raise good points but I can't say I completely agree. =/

Can't PvP without consent?

How the **** does he expect clan wars to work?

"I'm declaring war on you!"

"Uhh, no, I don't accept."

"Aww..."

Even with a clan system, you're going to need consent from the enemy to attack them...which totally sucks balls.  ???

Unless they have a clan war option, in which that case they are automatically marked for PvP.

>.>
<.<
This. It's what I would do if it were my game, anyways. In case of a clan war all members of the warring parties would be able to be PVP'd by the other clan without individual consent (as long as they are a certain distance from the outpost, like a block or two, to prevent camping.
