The forum will be undergoing maintenance as things progress forward. SMF2 is a little buggy on our forum, and I will be working to iron out some of those bugs, and to restore the forum to a similar and familiar home for us to the one that we used to have.

1O YEARS OLD

Today was my 10th birthday. We had the party in the cafeteria. The first present I got was from Caitlin. It was a Grognak the barbarian comic, and then she hugged me. I was just starting to enjoy it when all of a sudden her father “The Overseer” stepped in between us to get my attention. At first I thought I was in trouble but then he gave me my next present which was my very own Pip-Boy 3,000. He explained some of the basic functions and left immediately after saying that he had other matters to attend to but as he was leaving I overheard him saying he didn’t care about the party and that he didn’t understand what Caitlin sees in me. I already don’t like him.

I started talking to the rest of the people at the party until it was time for cake. Apparently the Mr. Handy robot decided it was a good idea to cut it with it’s circular power saw. Obviously it didn’t end well. Pieces of the cake went flying everywhere and the guests were complaining that the cake was ruined. I didn’t mind though since old lady Palmer had given me a sweet roll, besides it was definitely worth it when a piece of the cake flew towards Connor and hit him in the face. I was still laughing when he ran up to me demanding me to give him my sweet roll. I decided to take the joke a little further by putting some extra “icing” on it before offering it to him which made him even angrier.

He started chasing me around the cafeteria and into the hall. He even managed to back me into a corner and punch me in the face before being caught and taken back to the cafeteria by officer Gomez. Caitlin quickly came over to me to make sure I was okay. When she saw the bruise on the right side of my face she kissed it and asked if I felt any better, of course I said yes.

After awhile the party was back to normal until the intercom came on and my dad answered it. When he was done he told me that it was uncle Devon and said to go down to the lab for a surprise. When I got there uncle Devon teased me about being too young to be down there. I ignored the joke and asked about the surprise. That’s when my dad gave me this journal and a BB gun. A Radroach managed to wander into the room and I was given permission to shoot it. I decided it was the perfect chance to try my Pip-Boy’s V.A.T.S. (Vault Assistance Targeting System) feature. The Radroach didn’t even see it coming. After it was dead uncle Devon took a picture of me and my dad. I had a lot of fun today, I wish everyday could be this exciting.

The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they're going to be when you kill them.

19 Years Old

I wake up to the sound of gunshots and alarms going off throughout the vault. I hear the sound of someone running down the hall towards my room. Why would someone be heading this way? Then a thought crosses my mind: Gunshots, Alarms, and the sound of someone running towards my location…is this person coming to kill me? I decide it might be a good idea to grab the 9mm pistol I had hidden in my dresser. I check the clip to find only three bullets were in it. I was lucky to have that many since the gun was stolen in the first place. I would have to make every shot count. I take aim as my bedroom door opens. Suddenly my friend Caitlin walks in holding a pistol of her own. Had my own friend come to kill me? I keep my gun aimed at her with my finger on the trigger.

“Caitlin, what are you doing?”

“I could ask you the same thing, why are you pointing that gun at me? Where did you get a gun in the first place anyway?”

“Tell me where you got yours first.”

“William, we don’t have time for this!”

“Answer my question!”

“Fine…I stole it from my father, okay?”

“Or maybe he gave it to you when he sent you to kill me.”

“What? I can’t believe this; you think I’m here to kill you?”

“You and I both know your Dad isn’t very fond of me…I just never thought you would take his side.”

“My Dad may be The Overseer but that doesn’t mean I do everything he says. If I was here to kill you I would have done it already.”

“You would have died trying…just like that guy.”

“What guy?”

“Don’t move.” I pull the trigger of my gun and a single bullet flies through the air just barely missing Caitlin and hitting the man behind her right between the eyes killing him instantly.

Caitlin quickly spins around to see the man lying on the floor. “Oh my god…you killed him!”

“You should be thanking me; he was going to kill you.”

“Where did you learn to shoot like that anyway?”

“Remember the BB gun my Dad gave me when I was younger? I used to practice shooting targets all the time. Using a pistol is just as easy.

“That reminds me…I came here because your Dad left the Vault. My Dad already had the security soldiers kill Devon for helping him escape. You need to get out too, before they find you.”

“So you came to help? …I am so sorry I accused you of trying to kill me.”

“Don’t worry about it, you just saved my life so…apology accepted.”

“So how do I get out of here?”

“When your Dad opened the Vault door a bunch of radroaches got inside. Security is preoccupied killing them right now so you may be able to sneak past them and reach the door.”

“What if that doesn’t work? I’ve only got two bullets left.”

“Here, take my Dad’s gun. I was going to give it to you in the first place.”

“Keep it, I can use my old BB gun and baseball bat.”

“As long as you promise not to die on me.”

“I promise. I’ll meet you at the vault door.”

I reach out to hug Caitlin but instead she ends up making out with me and runs off afterward saying “If you want more you better reach that door.” I definitely plan on it.

I walked out into the hallway and took the security armor off the guy I shot earlier and put it on. I head down the hallway until Connor catches up to me. He asks me to help him save his younger sister from some radroaches.

“Why can’t you do it yourself?”

“Those things…I can’t go near them…they freak me out. Please help, I don’t want to lose my sister, she’s all I got left of my family!”

“Okay, Okay, take me to her.”

I follow Connor to his sister and pull out my baseball bat to kill the radroaches. After his sister is safe she runs over to him and hugs him.

“Thank you, for saving her. If I can do anything to repay the favor please let me know.”

“Well, I’m leaving the vault and I don’t want to wear this stuff anymore.”

“I’ve got just the thing. You can take this old trench coat and suit. My Dad told me it used to belong to some strange guy he used to travel the world with.”

I put it on and say goodbye to him then head through the cafeteria and upstairs to avoid two security soldiers. I remember that The Overseer’s office is on this floor so I decide to go there, maybe I could find some info on his computer. On the way there I see two dead security officers. Caitlin must have been here…But why was she upstairs? I enter The Overseers office and turn on his computer. It was password protected. I didn’t have time to try and hack it so I searched through his desk hoping he had written the password down somewhere but I found nothing. Then my eyes wandered over to the lockers against the wall. I quickly looked through them and found the password along with some 9mm pistol rounds. I enter the password into the computer and it turns on. I couldn’t believe his password was “Overseer is cool”. I find out that the people of the vault have been outside before and found out it was safe but for some reason they decide to stay in the vault anyway. No wonder my Dad left…he must of realized how stupid that was too. I just wish he would of told me first. As I get ready to turn the computer off I see a strange option that says “Open secret tunnel”. Curious where the tunnel might lead I click the option and step away from the desk as it raises up towards the ceiling revealing a stairway underneath. I navigate the tunnel and it leads me to a dead end. I notice a light switch on the wall and wonder why it’s there since there were no light bulbs down there. I decide to flip the switch into the “On” position and suddenly the wall in front of me opens. I walk through the opening to find myself at the vault door but Caitlin was nowhere to be found. I approach the button to open the vault door when the door behind me suddenly opens. I turn around to see The Overseer holding Caitlin like a hostage with his pistol to her head.

“Don’t push that button or I’ll pull the trigger.”

“You’d kill your own daughter just to get to me?”

“It’s not the way I want it to happen but I have to stop you.”

“Why? What’s the point? One less mouth for you to feed.”

“I don’t have to argue with you…I’ve got the woman you love at gunpoint. Do as I say or I pull the trigger.”

“You forgot one thing.”

“And what would that be?”

“I’ve got a gun too.”

I quickly take my gun out of its holster and carefully aim away from Caitlin. I pull the trigger and the bullet flies through the air and hits The Overseer’s hand causing him to drop his gun. Caitlin gets away as her father reaches for his gun on the ground. He picks it up and shoots at me but misses due to his bloody hand shaking uncontrollably. He drops the gun as he falls to the ground on his knees crying.

“You were right, I can‘t kill my own daughter. And it would be wrong for me to stop you from going after your father.”

“Well I’m glad you’ve come to your senses, but I can’t trust you. You threatened Caitlin’s life once already.”

Caitlin approaches me as she speaks “I believe him.”

“You think you’ll be safe?”

Caitlin nods. “I’ve never seen my father like this before…He’s never cried before either. We’ll be fine, you go find your father.”

“Okay, but only because I trust you. Maybe one day we’ll see each other again.”

“I hope so.”

As I turn to leave Caitlin catches up to me. “I almost forgot my promise.”

Caitlin makes out with me again as she presses her body against mine. Afterward we say our goodbyes. I shield my eyes as I walk outside into the bright new world. Eventually my eyes adjust and I get a good look at the world. I say goodbye to the vault and begin the search my father…And some food.

The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they're going to be when you kill them.
