I could never claim to know how you feel chaos but I have also lost pets and family members. My dog died of heart worms, My Grandmother died of Alzheimer disease, and a year later almost on the same day my Grandfather died of some sort of deadly poison circulating in his body. While I have little experience in family loss as of yet, I may say that nothing happens for no reason. Sure, death is a sad thing to witness. But I try to see it as the begining of a new life. Souls reincarnate into new bodies. A new start, a new story.
I just hope you both will learn to understand the inevitability of death and accept it as the ending of your lives.
As for families falling apart....well, isn't that where you come in?

Thanks Igor and that last part reminded me of the song it never too late which I think was by nickelback I'm not sure.
