The forum will be undergoing maintenance as things progress forward. SMF2 is a little buggy on our forum, and I will be working to iron out some of those bugs, and to restore the forum to a similar and familiar home for us to the one that we used to have.

@ BlackRain Sorry BlackRain, I don’t have a genuine answer to your scenario because I don’t think Athens is worth saving, even at this present time. Contrary to BlackRain’s initial peaceful solution, I would prefer to help country B to fight against country A for 3 reasons. My first reason: Because the counter attack from country B is enough to demonstrate that country B could win battles even though they didn’t start off the fight. Country B’s experience in counterattacking a invasion might be imperative to my country’s situation. My second reason: Throughout history, war over regions/land doesn’t get much support, whereas fighting for the people can get a lot of support. If land is obtain during the time of conflict, the new territories can be used as currency for peace or deterrents against future wars. My third reason: I chosen country B because the situation reminded me of the Falkland Islands 1983: Country A= Argentina vs. country B= Britain. Death toll: 649 Argentine, 255 British. If they stop acting like a child and learn to accept their lost, a possible negotiation for a treaty to lease the territory could happen.

Peace talks. Divide the land in half for each country, then follow through with the next plan.
Were it that we had the option to let them fight it out, I would use guerilla warfare agains tthe 'superior force', along with Ghengis Khan's horseshoe tactics, and Sun Tzu's subterfuge, i.e. fake intel and wars of attrition, combined.
Hit the edges of their army with small raiding forces, use my entire nation as a battlefield to wrap around the army and cut off their supply lines, and then in actual skirmishes and battles, I'd march at them in straight lines and columns, using the phalanx from the Greek times to keep the soldiers hit alive, while collapsing the middle of my columns to fool the enemy into thinking they had broke ranks.
Once they'd been lured in, turn around and crush them with a flanking from all sides, plus two or three other columns on each side of what was left of the enemy's main army. After that, I'd use small, roaming paries to mop up any resistance left.
Tactical genocide, brother. :3
My scenario -
You're Athens, and Sparta is attacking. Your country is riddled with plague, so you have inferior weapons and armor, your horses are dying, your food is bad, and your soldiers' numbers have been cut in half, not to mention they're weak from lack of food, and your soldiers were less well trained than Sparta's in the first place.
You have but two things to your advantage.
Your navy is still at sea, and thus unaffected by the plague, and your city is one of the best fortified of all the Greek city-states.
These are your options...
In regards to your navy, you can do four things.
-Use them to ferry supplies and medicines to your city from other Greek nations, and run the risk of infecting them too. -Have them help in the defense of the city, guaranteeing infection, and putting an even further drain on your dwindling resources. -Order them to assault the Spartan polis -Have them attempt to hire mercenries from other nations
In the defense of your city you can do one of these things...
-Melt down horseshoes, daggers, knives, anything that's metal and not being used, to make more weapons, and cannon balls -Make armor and arrows out of said metal -Make a few catapaults to fling the corpses of your disease ridden people into the opposing army.
Remember, this is only to save your city from being sacked, not annihlate the Spartan threat.

Just something to help us refine our battle tactics. I thought up of this RP from a few PMs on the forum here. So how this will work is someone invents a scenario that the others may use their own tactics to try and solve, or come out on top. Like a tactical analysis. You can choose to answer the aforementioned person's scenario and/or submit your own for us to solve. But you must give a result if someone tries to solve your scenario.
I'll begin - Your country is being invaded by a superior force looking to take control of the region. You have rallied your neighbors to fight along with you, but you need one more army to have enough strength to go toe-to toe with the enemy.
You have two neighbors you haven't yet contacted yet for assistance, but the two countries are in a war. The war is over a piece of land that originally was controlled by country A but is now in the hands of country B. Country A invaded country B in the past, but in that war country B counter-attacked and took land away from country A. What do you do?
Two options you can consider is making peace between the two nations, the result being you have more than enough forces necessary to fight your own war, and will take less causalities and damage overall. The other option to consider is intervening and helping one power beat the other.( you CANNOT leave the powers to fight it out nor can you stay neutral and leave them alone, you need the help of Country A or Country B to win).
