« on: February 19, 2013, 06:41:46 am »I Escaped from Gallifrey in my deceased father’s old TARDIS moments before the planets destruction during the great time war. I knew very little about how to pilot the TARDIS so I set it to follow a signal from what seemed to be another TARDIS which was apparently heading for a planet called Earth.
Upon entering the Earth’s atmosphere the signal was lost causing my TARDIS to lose control and crash land. After the impact I discovered that the TARDIS’s console was fried and would not respond and I had no idea how to fix it. I went outside to see what damage had been done to the TARDIS’s exterior but couldn’t because it had apparently been set to turn invisible upon landing.
I decide I need to find the other TARDIS I was originally tracking, maybe whoever owned it could help me fix mine. I went back inside to grab my old Vortex Manipulator. I memorized the location of the signal that was displayed on the TARDIS’s monitor before it crashed and programmed the Vortex Manipulator to take me there. Once I got there I still couldn’t find the TARDIS I was tracking. Suddenly I hear a familiar sound, it was the sound of a TARDIS engine.
I looked in the direction of the sound and saw an old man walk into a blue police box which soon began slowly fading in and out of existence. This police box was the TARDIS I was looking for but now it was leaving again. I quickly program my Vortex Manipulator to follow the TARDIS but it has a malfunction and rejects the command. A woman notices how upset I am and approaches me.
“Excuse me, were you trying to catch up to that man who just left?”
“You know him? Who is he?”
“That depends, why are you after him?”
“I need his help. I have a machine like his but I don’t know how to fix it.”
“And you’re hoping he can help you?”
“Yes, exactly. Do you know where he went?”
“I’m sorry but I have no idea, he just goes wherever he wants.”
“What about his name?”
“Come to think of it he never mentioned his real name…”
“What do you mean?”
“He just called himself The Doctor…he also said he was some sort of alien called a Timelord.”
“So how do I find him?”
“If you’re lucky maybe he’ll come back.”
“…Thanks, I guess I’ll stick around for awhile then.”
Suddenly the vortex manipulator comes back online, picks up the TARDIS’s signal and immediately takes me there before I could say goodbye. Once there I look around for the blue police box. I find it but notice it looks different from when I had just seen it moments ago. I get closer as I inspect it and see that the paint is more faded and chipped in some places. Finally the doors open and a young man walks out who immediately notices me standing there.
“If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’ve been expecting me.”
“Who are you?”
“I’m The Doctor.”
“That’s impossible…I just seen The Doctor. He’s a lot older than you.”
“I think I‘ll take that as a compliment…When was it that you last saw me…him?”
“Here, look at my Vortex Manipulator. This is the time I just came from where I last saw him and I programmed it to follow him here.”
“Well, I’d say you found him. Just a lot later than you expected.”
“What?”
“I’m a Timelord. I have a way of cheating death by a process called regeneration where my entire appearance changes.”
“How many times have you regenerated since I last saw you?”
“10 times.”
“You don’t have many regenerations left then…”
“How do you know that?”
“I’m a Timelord too.”
“What?! How can that be?”
“I escaped Gallifrey before it was destroyed during the great time war.”
“So how did you end up on Earth?”
“I escaped using my deceased fathers old TARDIS but I had no idea how to pilot it so I set it to follow a signal it picked up from another TARDIS heading for Earth.”
“My TARDIS…”
“As it turned out, yes.”
“So where’s your TARDIS then?”
“That’s why I’ve been trying to catch up to you. It lost control and crash landed, the console was fried and I have no idea how to fix it. I was hoping you could help me.”
“I’ll see what I can do but first we need to take care of that.”
The Doctor points at something off in the distance moving towards us.
I look in the direction The Doctor is pointing and see a group of Daleks.
“Daleks? Weren’t they all destroyed along with Gallifrey?”
“I thought so too but they seem to be scattered throughout time and space.”
“How do we beat them?”
“Wait. Maybe they want to talk.”
“EXTERMINATE!”
“Watch out!”
I knock The Doctor down to the ground just in time to avoid the Dalek’s laser.
“I don’t think they’re in the mood for tea Doctor.”
“Hurry…into the TARDIS!”
“Aren’t you afraid they’ll attack the TARDIS?”
“Normally it would be a concern, but I have the shields up this time.”
“This time?”
“I have been known to forget to put them up on occasion…”
“I think I’d find that more upsetting if it weren’t for the fact that I don’t know how to pilot mine at all.
The Doctor presses several buttons and pulls a switch, then turns back to me.
“I’m not that good at piloting mine either, you know that sound you hear whenever my TARDIS lands or takes off?”
“Yea, mine did it too. That’s the engine right?”
“Actually no…it’s the brakes.”
“You don’t know how to turn them off?”
“I do, but I’ve grown to like the sound.”
The Doctor’s TARDIS materializes near where mine crashed. We step out and The Doctor looks around as he follows me towards where I remember the TARDIS being.
“So what’s it disguised as? Vending machine? Police box?…A house?”
“None of those…it turned invisible upon landing…I mean crashing.”
“So where exactly is it?”
“Let’s see…”
I feel around for my TARDIS until I find the entrance and welcome The Doctor inside. He looks around and scans the console with his Sonic Screwdriver.
“I’ve got good news and bad news…which do you want first?”
“I’ll take the bad news first.”
“The bad news is that I don’t think I can fix it. There’s a lot more damage than I expected, things I’ve never had experience fixing.”
“I hope you’re joking…”
“I’m sorry but unfortunately I’m not joking.”
“Just great…and what was the good news?”
“There are several parts I can salvage from the wreckage and use them to upgrade your Vortex Manipulator.”
“What kind of upgrades?”
“It’s hard to explain but when I’m done it will work more like a TARDIS just without the complex operating system.”
“Sounds good, do it.”
The Doctor takes the parts and makes the modifications.
“There you go, one TARDIS on a wrist.”
“Wow, this is incredible.”
“You’re welcome. Now we just have to get rid of the rest of the wreckage.”
“How do we do that?”
“Hmm…”
The Doctor walks back over to the console of my TARDIS and looks around it.
“Ah, here it is.”
The Doctor presses a small button that was hidden in a false bottom on the console.
“We need to get out now.”
“What was that?”
“Sort of a fail-safe switch, if there was a possibility of the TARDIS falling into the wrong hands it was designed to send the TARDIS back into space via a black hole and self destruct.”
The Doctor and I exchange glances and make a run for the exit. We make it out just in time to see my TARDIS become enveloped by a swirling black vortex before vanishing completely.
Suddenly a phone in The Doctor’s TARDIS rings.
“I’ll be right back.”
The Doctor goes inside to answer the TARDIS to answer the phone while I wait outside. After a few minutes he walks back out with a worried look on his face.
“I’m sorry but I have something important to take care of.”
“Can I come with you? Maybe I can help.”
“No, I wish you could but I have to do this alone.”
“Will I ever see you again?”
“That’s up to you, you’re the one who found me first after all. If you want to see me you know what to do.”
The Doctor walked back into his TARDIS and I watched once more as it faded in and out of existence before completely disappearing. I look down at my Vortex Manipulator and start messing with some of the buttons. Suddenly I find myself flying through the Time Vortex.
“But I didn’t…oh no…where am I going to end up now?”
