Posted by: CrazyHobo« on: March 17, 2011, 05:33:08 am »oooooooooook, that was a totally random change of topic.
1. Since the age of 3. 2. I THINK in English, so I understand it. Can I speak it? Well, I did make it into the finals of an English public speaking contest recently, so I guess I can ![]() 3. Funny thing - I never actually paid for tutoring. It all started with cartoons. Back in my childhood, for some strange reason, the only available cartoon channel was Cartoon Network. Being a little kid, I easily managed to copy everything they were saying in the cartoons. I recall my mother telling me stories of how my grandmother had problems with me, because I was talking to her in English, while she doesn't speak a word of it ![]() Second year of school and I have my first English lesson. Things there were a bit complicated at first: while I could talk English before school, I never had the opportunity to read or write in English. But I adapted quickly and before you knew it, I was writing small Dungeon and Dragon games, where me and my brother were the protagonists xD Fourth year of school. My father buys a PC, that at that time was the most high tech (though now it's obsolete). I started playing video games. Problem was, that our local stores had some rather crappy games. The solution was internet piracy: my brother kept downloading games from the internet all the time and they were all in English. So my practice continued on video games ![]() Then I went on to watch films with Russian subtitles, because I had problems hearing words. Some American actors are rather crappy, because they swallow words, making it hard to listen ![]() Starting from 6th year of school, my mother sent me on language camps, because she wanted me to improve my English. Needless to say, I ended up improving the English of other people, but not my own xD Also during that time I started playing Halo Combat Evolved multiplayer. I occasionally had the opportunity to chat with people there. Year 2008. First time I play Dead Frontier. I made an account, called NextGenAssassin, and played for a while. Talking with people during gameplay was fun, but I eventually grew bored of DF. Also, by this time video cards with 3.0 shaders have introduced, so all new video games were being converted to that card, making my video gaming years obsolete. My PC is so old, I can't play anything. I do consider this to be a blessing, actually. Year 2009. I suddenly feel an urge, that I must kill zombies, so I come back to DF with a new account, called Crazy Hobo. I then found that old wetpaint wiki, which had a list of armors. The Black Dragon Scale caught my attention, as it was described as the best armor in the game. I read in the description, that you must join BD to get it, and so I found the BD thread on the forum, but it was written, that before joining BD you have to climb up through all the ranks of Fenrir's Fangs. For some strange reason, I applied to FF and that's where my DF life truly started. Every day I would spend about 12 hours on this very website chatting with all kinds of people. I was only a 14 year old twat back then, my English was nothing compared to today's. But still, I had the opportunity to speak English for 12 hours a day, even though it was in text form. Helped me improve my grammar. And I'm still here. If it wasn't for DF, FF and BD, my level of English wouldn't be, what it is today. And I do thank everyone on this forum (except the spam bots) for contributing to my learning. From here on I give the real way of learning a language - live with it. Surround yourself with that language if you want to learn it. Posted by: Superchaos2585« on: March 16, 2011, 01:55:11 pm »I know, I just put that there because I just noticed and it looked funny. I'm saying I could make my own, or some custom ones. Like a can of SPAM, some boobs, something funny, pretty much anything. Feel free to ask for any custom stuff you need on this forum and I'll get right on it.
I have a few questions about your English though, 1. How long have you been learning it? You're really very fluent in it. 2. Can you speak it and understand it in real life? 3. Where are you actually learning it from? If I think of anymore I'll tell ya XD Posted by: CrazyHobo« on: March 16, 2011, 10:09:15 am »oh, we had a lot of those, since Trat installed some.
![]() See? Posted by: Superchaos2585« on: March 16, 2011, 04:02:49 am » I'm working on it, it's complicated and I have no experience XD
*EDIT* Also, I learned how to put in your own custom stars, as you can see. I can probably make new emoticons in a similar way.Posted by: CrazyHobo« on: March 16, 2011, 03:58:49 am »well that's just convenient.
Now fix this auto-scrolling down. Posted by: Superchaos2585« on: March 15, 2011, 05:06:58 pm » I've got a trick or two up my sleeve buddy =D
There is no way I can see that can lock registration, but I can tweak a few things in the coding that will eliminate SPAM bots. Posted by: CrazyHobo« on: March 15, 2011, 01:05:19 pm »holy ****.
Alex, do me a favor and find a way to lock registration on this site as well O.o Posted by: Superchaos2585« on: March 15, 2011, 11:30:47 am »Okay, as you may or may not have noticed, I've added a block that can blend colors to the bottom of the forum. to use it in your posts, create your color, type "color=XXXX", the color value given being the "XXXX"
For example, say I wanted to use a new shade yellow. I could click on it and I'd have it right in the text box. Example: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. TA-DA! Say I wanted to mix red and blue. I select the of red that I want, go to the second text box then select the shade of blue that I want, then click "Blend". I get my two older colors below, plus my new color, new color, purple, and copy/paste the code inside the "color=" thing. Example: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. It is really very easy to figure out, good luck everyone! (I kept accidentally typing "color=yellow" out of habit by accident during this post XD) |
